Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to process donations, answer your messages, and understand how the Site is used.
Donations. When you donate, we receive your name, email address, billing address, donation amount and date, and, if you choose, a dedication (for example, "in memory of") and a message. Payments are processed by Donorbox and its payment partners (such as Stripe and PayPal). We never see or store your full credit card or bank account number.
Contact form. When you write to us through the Site, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message.
Analytics and cookies. When you browse the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the referring website. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, such as health information, through the Site. Please do not send us personal medical details through the contact form.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
Process donations and send tax receipts and acknowledgments
Keep accurate financial records, as required by law and for our annual IRS reporting

Thank donors and, where you have not opted out, share occasional updates about the research we fund
Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
Protect the Site and our donors against fraud and misuse
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share donor lists with other organizations.

Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses:
Essential cookies, which make the Site and donation forms work
Analytics cookies, which tell us which pages are visited and how people find the Site
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work, though some features may not. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
How long we keep information
We keep donation records for at least seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements. We keep contact-form messages only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Analytics data is kept according to our providers' standard retention settings.
How we protect information
The Site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and payments are handled by PCI-compliant processors. Access to donor information is limited to the people who need it to do their work. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us at any time to:
See the personal information we hold about you
Correct or update it
Delete it, except where we must keep it for legal or tax reasons
Stop sending you updates or thank-you communications
To make a request, email info@valsecchifoundation.org. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights, and we will honor them as required.

If you are in the EU or UK, we process your information on these legal bases: to complete a donation you requested (contract), to meet legal obligations such as tax record-keeping, our legitimate interest in running and improving the Site, and your consent for non-essential cookies. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
